Design Studio Universal Visual Artists (UVA) was commissioned by Barbican to create a new, multi-disciplinary work for The Curve – an art exhibition space at the heart of the Barbican that showcases new works by contemporary artists.
The exhibition coincides with their 10th anniversary and combines light, sound, and movement. The exhibition draws on physics and digital technology to create a piece heavy in spatial design to create a sequence of pendulum-like elements through the entirety of the 90-metre long gallery – a real experience in light and sound. The result is a unique and transfixing display of light and shadow on the high walls and rounded floors of the exhibition space.
Momentum will be the first purely light and sound installation at The Curve and the visitor is a truly integral part of the experience, always an active participant. UVA has been commissioned by world-renowned spaces all over the world including YCAM Japan and the Royal Academy of Arts.
