London’s The Shard is the second tallest building in the European Union and the tallest in the United Kingdom. It stands at 87-storeys high and its glass-clad pyramid has provided the best views of London, up to 40 miles, since its public opening on February 1st 2013.
During the May half-term, kids can travel up The Shard for free, experiencing 360 degree views of London and spotting all of the capital’s stunning landmarks from the best vantage point.
The Shard was designed by architect Renzo Piano and is almost twice as high as any other vantage point in the city. Race up to level 69 in the high-speed ‘kaleidoscopic’ lift and learn all about 200 London landmarks in 10 different languages and see the views from the top on interactive touchscreen telescopes. Next, head up to level 72 to the open-air gallery and gaze up to the top of the building.
