The NME has again teamed up with Austin, Texas, ‘live music capital of the world’, to celebrate the 20th NME Awards show in style. The partnership, which began last year, sees NME’s influential survey of the latest and greatest rock’n’roll acts in the UK join forces with Austin, Texas, a city that has become synonymous with some of the greatest music festivals on the planet, including Austin City Limits, SXSW, and Fun, Fun, Fun Fest.
Mike Williams, NME editor says: “It’s testament to the massive success of the NME Awards 2014 that we’re able to confirm Austin, Texas as the most rock’n’roll of partners for a second year running. Live music remains the heartbeat of NME and of Austin, Texas, and together we aim to make this year’s campaign bigger, better – and in the true Austin tradition, weirder – than ever.”
This year’s award show hits Brixton with a first-class trio of acts – Royal Blood, who have seven NME Awards nominations and will perform prior to learning their fate, The Vaccines, who are making a highly anticipated return to the live arena, and Run The Jewels, El-P and Killer Mike’s widely acclaimed Hip Hop project.
