Event Details

Holy Warriors is a new play from the highly regarded pen of David Eldridge. The ‘In Basildon’ playwright conceived of Holy Warriors especially for the Globe’s 2014 season where it will premiere on 19th July.

In what promises to be a sweepingly ambitious vision, Holy Warriors weaves a story of holy war and bloody revenge over two millennia of conflict over the Holy City of Jerusalem. The play, which is directed by James Dacre, takes in a vast swathe of historical action, encompassing the Romans capturing of the city, the crusades conflict between Christian forces led by King Richard The Lionheart and Saladin, leader of the Muslims and the suicide bombings of recent history.

Running from July 19th until 24th August, Holy Warriors is one of four new plays featuring at Shakespeare’s Globe this summer.
