Punch and Judy were two famous puppets from the 1600s and this year’s puppet festival will mark Mr. Punch’s 352nd birthday.
Held in the beautiful Garden of St. Paul’s Church, a puppet show of magnificent proportions will be taking place. With stalls run by community groups from all over London, The British Puppet and Model Theatre Guild, The Punch and Judy Fellowship, The College of Punch and Judy Professors, The Puppet Centre and The Union Internationale de la Marionette will all be represented.
Around the neighbourhood of Covent Garden, a grand procession will be led by a brass band at 11am with a special birthday toast to Mr Punch. Following this is a special church service led by Rev. Simon Buckley and Mr. Punch in the Pulpit! Then, from 12.30 – 5.30 The Punch and Judy puppet shows will take centre stage.
A classical and beautiful show from puppeteers from all over the world and not one to be missed. Sit in the sunny gardens of one of London’s most beautiful churches and enjoy a show that has really stood the test of time.
