Oscar winning French actress Juliette Binoche returns to the London stage to take the title role in an exciting new take on Sophocles’s Antigone. This contemporary adaptation of the Greek masterpiece is based on a new translation by TS Eliot award-winning poet Anne Carson and is directed by revered Belgian theatre director Ivo van Hove.

In recent years van Hove has developed a formidable reputation for the emotional intensity of his gripping productions and it will be fascinating to see what he does with this classic Greek tragedy, especially given the presence of Binoche, who last graced the Barbican stage in 2012 with her enthralling performance in Mademoiselle Julie.

Van Hove’s first collaboration with Binoche is already shaping up to be one of 2015’s theatrical highlights. This hotly anticipated production of Antigone promises an explosive night of drama courtesy of two truly world-class talents and tickets are certain to go quickly.
