Time to strut your stuff this September as Dublin brings you a stylish date for your diary. Returning for its 6th year, the Dublin Fashion Festival is set to unite over 250 fashion and beauty retailers, restaurants, bars and hotels in a celebration of all things sartorial. Over the past decade Dublin has become an increasingly stylish city, and now boasts an alluring array of shopping options, from designer and high street to vintage. DFF aims to bring them all together to create a heady mix of live fashion events, on-street catwalk shows, in-store activities and workshops, as well as a slew of special offers designed to get you fashionistas shopping til you drop. At the heart of the action will be the city’s 8 flagships: Brown Thomas & BT2, Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, Powerscourt Centre, Arnotts, Ilac Shopping Centre (including Debenhams), Jervis Shopping Centre & Penneys, but look out for events taking place at venues all across the city.
The East London Design Show (or ELDS) is an annual event that plays host to the very best of the UK’s independent product, interior and jewellery designers. ELDS is the place to be if you want to discover emerging talent, featuring over 38 brand new designers – many launching new products. The EDLS is also proud to bring together more established designers working with glass and ceramics and makers of jewellery, women’s and men’s fashion and accessories, children’s clothing and toys, stationery, home-wares and furniture. The ELDS is seriously child friendly and you’re encouraged to bring the whole family along. There will be a dedicated create space, play area and baby changing facilities so there’s no need to leave the kids at home. Initially set up by glassmaker Della Tinsley and photographer Gideon Cleary, the East London Design Show has become an eagerly awaited annual event and celebrates its 21st anniversary this year.
Taking in over 250 shops, restaurants, bars and hotels, the Dublin Fashion Festival celebrates Dublin’s status as a city that is now synonymous with fashion, style and shopping. The festival aims to showcase these qualities with a weekend of fashionable fun that confirms Dublin as a style destination to be reckoned with. The Dublin Fashion Festival promises a unique cocktail of live fashion events, in-store activities at some of the city’s most exciting shopping hotspots, unmissable special offers and much more besides, transforming Dublin into a shopper’s wonderland. The Young Designer of the Year is an integral part of DFF and returns to the festival line-up with a spectacular outdoor fashion show on the grounds of the Bank of Ireland on College Green on the 7th September, showcasing the very best talents currently emerging from Irish fashion.
