This Christmas, the National Concert Hall is proud to present a classic family musical – The Wizard Of Oz. This lavish and highly anticipated production features a star studded cast, some spectacular costumes and a variety of breath-taking sets and promises to be a fun filled night for all the family. The show is brought to you by Festival Productions, the people who brought you “The Sound of Music” and “Annie.” They will be showcasing their amazing Festival chorus, their wonderful dancers and their fantastic live orchestra. Winterville is nearly here and that means Christmas in the capital is set to get a whole lot more fun. For those of you not in the know, Winterville promises to be an alternative, independent, intimate and creative experience for the whole family to enjoy. Winterville will be held in London’s oldest purpose-built recreational space; Victoria Park, and is shaping up to be an altogether different take on the festive season. Entry is free and a lot of the attractions are too. Included in the free entertainment in the spiegeltent are free gigs, club nights, comedy and cabaret. Winterville is a pop up town packed with exciting things to see and do. The kid’s quarter is a dedicated area for children and there will be street food traders and a special craft beer area and a food market serving the very finest take away food and drink. When the evenings roll around, Winterville becomes party central, combining Kicking Club Nights and a Roller Disco and boasts curated club nights form Bugged Out and Guilty Pleasures.
Over 4000 people are expected to take part in this years DIFC sponsored run in Victoria park and it promises to be a fun way to raise money and support your favourite charity. Even if you’re not in peak shape this run is still possible, with a little training and a touch of determination anyone can join in. There is a 5k and a 10k option so all ability and skill levels are covered and, most importantly, the spirit of the event is all about taking part rather than winning so anyone involved can choose to run, jog or walk, it’s entirely up to you. If you fancy doing something good and making sure you’re not on Santa’s naughty list in time for Christmas, register on the DIFC site and pick your charity from the list. Then dig out those running shoes and get warmed up. All runners will be provided with a free Santa suit before the starting gun is fired and once everyone is on their way, this sea of Santas is something to beho ho ho hold!
The Olympia London International Horse Show plays host to an amazing equine line-up this year and boasts many exciting events including a Medal Parade and some unmissable Masterclasses from British riders. The very first show features an appearance from Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro and will include a very special guest, former record-breaking racehorse, Kauto Star who will be showing off his newfound dressage skills. Visitors to Wednesday’s show will get to see a stunning Masterclass from one of Britain’s leading dressage riders, Laura Tomlinson who returns to Olympia riding one of her up and coming horses, Unique. Thursday’s show includes Individual Women’s World Vaulting Champion, Joanne Eccles who will be performing a Vaulting Display with her sister Hannah Eccles in the Olympia Arena. The demonstration promises to leave the audience in a state of awe as they perform handstands, tumbles and plenty of other acrobatic moves all while riding their horses. The London International Horse Show already holds the reputation for being world’s biggest and best equestrian party and this year is set to be the biggest and best yet.
