It’s wowed audiences on Broadway in New York and in London’s West End, winning a Grammy Award and eight Tony Awards along the way, and now Once, the irresistible Dublin-set story of love and music, is coming home to the city that inspired it.
Adapted by Enda Walsh from John Carney’s acclaimed 2007 film of the same name, Once is the heart–warming tale of two star-crossed buskers and makes wonderful use of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová’s rousing music.
An all new and brilliantly talented cast has been assembled for the Dublin run including Tom Parsons as Guy, Megan Riordan as Girl, Sandra Callaghan as Baruska, Phelim Drew as Billy, Lisa Fox as Ex-Girfriend, Bob Kelly as Eamon, Michael Mahony as Emcee, Bill Murphy as Da, Dylan Reid as Andrej,Rickie O’Neill as Svec and Ruth Westley as Reza.
I’m absolutely delighted that Once is coming to Dublin and will play for the summer at the Olympia Theatre. This sweet little love story, so beautifully dreamt in film by John Carney, has travelled a long way on theatre stages around the world – and is finally returning home.’ – Enda Walsh
