La Roux is a highly successful London based synth pop act formed in 2006 by singer Elly Jackson and record producer Ben Langmaid. Now newly solo but maintaining the original name, Elly Jackson brings her unique sound to Ireland for one phenomenal night at Dublin’s famous Academy music venue. Tickets are still available but are being snapped up fast by fans.
Whilst re-jigging the line up, La Roux started a low-key comeback tour last year. A leaked copy of the set list showed there were four new tracks being played: “Uptight Downtown”, “Kiss and Not Tell”, “Sexoteque” and “Tropical Chancer”. Early reactions to these tracks were very positive and shortly after their live debut, La Roux released her second album, which as expected, contained all four of the tracks she had introduced at those earlier gigs.
Tim Jones, music columnist for The Guardian, tweeted that he “heard the new La Roux album yesterday and it was bloody brilliant.”
