In February Kodo are returning to Dublin with their new show, Legend. Kodo are a professional drumming troupe based on Sado Island, Japan. Since their debut over 30 years ago they have been amazing crowds around the world with their professional taiko drumming.
The troupe strives to both preserve and re-interpret traditional Japanese performing arts through the use of not only taiko drumming but other traditional Japanese musical instruments such as the fue (flute) and shamisen (a three-stringed, Japanese musical instrument played with a plectrum) as well as traditional dance and vocal performances.
Through their touring Kodo members have brought back a kaleidoscope of world music and experiences to Sado and now produce a new fusion of sound collaborating with other artists and composers and extending their sound right across the musical spectrum.
Their new show, Legend, runs from 22 – 23 Feb at Dublin’s National Concert Hall.
